After a very successful 13th winter season in the new chalet, Dragon Lodge mark 3, we’re excited to announce we’ll be opening up for the summer season from June 19th through to the end of August.

After a brilliant season snow wise in Tignes and great feedback on the new lodge from guests new and old over the winter the summer’s looking like being the best ever with a host of new and improved activities in Tignes…

Snowboarding & Skiing:
The Grande Motte glacier will be open every day, 7:15 to 13:00 from 19th June to 29th August 2010: Accessed from the village via the funiclear in just 7 minutes the area rises up to 3545m and has 12 ski lifts, over 20 kilometres of runs, a vertical drop of over 750 m and of course a snowpark with halfpipe, jumps (tabletops, hips, quarters) and rails of all sizes catering to everyone from pros to beginners alike. The summer scene in Tignes is great with a mix of locals plus visiting riders and skiers from all over Europe sharing the pistes and park – plus it’s not unheard of to get fresh tracks too!

Mountainbiking:
With the introduction of FREE mountain bike lift tickets for summer 2010 - possibly THE main reason to visit Tignes in the summers these days? Always having great terrain for bikes, those in the know will realise that Tignes have been developing their mountain biking facilities (the ‘Bike Park’) over the last few years and for this summer have stepped it up another level to challenge the established Alpine mountain bike resorts with the goal of being the mountain bikers favourite destination in summer.

Open from June 27th to August 29th , 8.15 am to 5 pm, and accessed via the FREE Aéroski Tovière bubbles and Palafour chairlift the ‘Bike Park’ has 100 KM of courses and 18 tracks: 8 downhill tracks (green to black) 2 cross country courses, 8 enduro courses and ‘Bikeland’

The Bike Park:
Downhill: 8 downhill tracks (green to black) cater to the serious downhill enthusiast on the Tovière (elite trails) and Palafour (mellower) slopes.
Recreational rides: the beautiful endurance trails on the Palafour mountain are accessible whatever your level.
Cross-country: there are 2 new trails on the Palafour area which are dedicated to cross-country mountain biking.

Bikeland
Located on the edge of the lake and dedicated to learning mountain biking, this fun area was created 2009 and is made up of wooden ramps, an easy dual slalom and a mini downhill. It is the ideal place for beginners to practice
before attacking the “big” Bike Park.

Whats’ new for summer 2010?
-Free use or the Palafour and Aeroski lifts for bikes
- 2 more downhill courses
- More wooden and grounded ramps
- Expansion of the “service area” with a free washing facilities and a stand for mountain bike test and maintenance
- 3 more Bike Patrolers (7 total) to look after you and maintain the trails.

Other Activities:
If that’s not enough for you Tignes has a host of other activities to keep you entertained in the summer:
SkatePark - 800 m² street course right next to the lake.
Sport Beach – Tennis & basketball courts, trampolines, beach volleyball, table tennis, petanque, kids play area – all next to the lake in Le Lac.
Acroland – slide or jump (skis, snowboard, BMX, ATB or inline skates) into the lake from a 35m ramp.
Golf – Tignes 18 hole course is the highest in Europe, a quality, original course that winds around the mountainside with natural obstacles highlighted by architect Philippe Valant. There’s also a mid-golf, 18 hole mini-golf and a driving range.
Water Sport Centre – from sailing catamarans, Hobie Cats or dinghy boats to canoes, kayaks or pedal boats on Tignes 25 hectare lake.
Paragliding – from tandem paragliding discovery flights and paragliding lessons and instruction, from beginner to advanced levels.

Plus a host of others: archery, horse riding, Helicopter, ATV and 4X4 vehicle tours, rock climbing, hiking, white water rafting, fishing, football and rugby pitches, indoor sports centre and the Lagon leisure centre with 25m pool, slides, saunas, Jacuzzis, steam rooms, gym, wellness centre and spa treatments…..
